2014 Civic Federation Awards Luncheon

On June 25 at the Fairmont Millennium Park, Co-Chairs Lester Crown, Anne Dias Griffin, Andrew J. McKenna, Michael J. Sacks and the entire Board of Directors of the Civic Federation were pleased to honor Ann Lurie with the Lyman J. Gage Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution by a Chicagoan and Northern Trust with the Addams-Palmer Award for Exemplary Civic Involvement by a Chicago Institution. The luncheon was attended by more than 500 of Chicago's and Illinois' business, civic and government leaders.

Co-chair Anne Dias Griffin gave the afternoon's salutation address. She congratulated the honorees and spoke about the work of Reboot Illinois, including its use of Civic Federation research to build greater awareness and understanding of the City and State's financial crises. After a break for lunch, Civic Federation President Laurence Msall recognized the past honorees and numerous civic and government leaders in attendance. Civic Federation Chairman Mark Davis discussed some of the Federation’s major accomplishments in the past year and awarded the door prize: four all-access passes to The Chicago Field Museum, donated by the museum.

Luncheon Co-chair Andrew J. McKenna presented Northern Trust with the Addams-Palmer Award. Frederick H. Waddell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Trust, accepted the award on behalf of his company.
