Lori Lightfoot Promised Change as Chicago Mayor. Now Comes the Hard Part.

This article covered the Chicago municipal election and outlined the challenges Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot will face when she takes office, including severely underfunded pension funds, a junk credit rating and a State government with its own financial struggles. Civic Federation President Laurence Msall pointed out that the State and City find themselves in such a precarious financial position even though the nation is experiencing one of the longest economic expansions in history. He cautioned that the City and State are currently ill-prepared for an economic downturn.
